Touch-A-Truck at Shawnee Park Center
We had a very busy three hours the last Saturday of September! And, we aren’t referring to our paving crews, quarries, and asphalt plants.

The bright sun and warm temperatures encouraged children, parents, and grandparents to visit the numerous displays and vehicles at the “Touch-A-Truck” in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The event, sponsored by the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, was held at the Shawnee Park Center on September 29 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. The organizer of the event, Tessa Bollinger – Recreation Specialist with the City of Cape Girardeau, informed us the attendance was approximately 600, which is a good number for this first-time event.

We wish to thank the following employees for investing their Saturday morning in the lives of hundreds of children: Micki Horrell (Corporate), Howard Hemmann (Apex Paving Co.), Ethan Amberger (Heartland Materials Quarry), Ken Lambert (ASA Asphalt), Steve Peterson (Apex Paving Co.), Matt Eubanks (Missouri Shop), and Don Rosenbarger (Corporate).

Our team assisted children in and out of a large wheel loader, handed out yellow “hard hats” and Mining Activity booklets, helped with rock coloring, and distributed information regarding Proposition D – YES on D for safer roads, safer streets, and safer bridges.

We featured a new Komatsu WA 470 loader from our friends at Roland Machinery Company (thanks to Dan Christensen and the rest of the Roland family).

We hope to see you at next year’s event!
